Etihad joined with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority last night to thank the Irish travel trade for their fantastic support. “Etihad are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new aircraft into Dublin which gives the trade an extra 900 seats a week to sell”, said Dave Walsh (Manager Ireland Etihad). “And we have just launched a new sale so get those bookings in”, added Dave.

The full Etihad team were at the event, including a few from head office. It was nice to meet Jim Callaghan, who is Head of Legal for Etihad. Great guy to talk to and it was interesting to hear he had spent 9 years with Ryanair. Beatrice Cosgrove was also there and looking great, enjoying her time with her two young children (as well as working hard at Etihad....).

Avion Express airline recently visited the Thomas Cook offices in Park West to meet the staff in advance of their inaugural summer charter flight from Dublin Airport which they are operating on behalf of Thomas Cook.
The Travel Counsellors conference was held in the gorgeous Fota Island Hotel in Cork. Starting on Thursday night with a Dubai Evening, sponsored by Dubai Tourism, Emirates and Kerzner, it was a great start to the conference. There were close on 100 attendees, which included 39 Travel Counsellors and some of their partners, as well as suppliers, head office staff and the press/media (including Gerry Benson, Publisher & Editor Travelbiz). Following speech’s by David Speakman (Chairman Travel Counsellors), Cathy Burke and of course Ingrid Aagesen (Dubai Tourism), Lee Barker (Kerzner) and Eileen Penrose (Emirates) it was down to a Dubai dinner feast. It’s rumoured that several stayed up till 6am but Cathy does not know the names!

US Airways celebrated their 10th Anniversary in Ireland with a trade lunch in Chapter One restaurant. “US Airways now have access to a second destination in Ireland as the airline begins daily, non-stop, summer service from Shannon to Philadelphia following a four-year hiatus. The airline will operate flights to the ‘Gateway to the West of Ireland’ on 176-seat dual-class Boeing 757-200 aircraft until the 6th September 2013.
