Turkish Airlines & Thai TB Fam - Bye Bye Bangkok
2nd December 2017 - 5:00pm
Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz), together with Onur Gul (Turkish Airlines), Kannika Mac (Tourism Authority of Thailand) and the terrific troupe of travel agents said a fond farewell to bustling Bangkok. Regrettably, the group is now separating with the A team (sorry guys!) heading to the fabulous island of Phuket and group B travelling to Vietnam. We’ll meet again, don’t know when, don’t know where, but we know we’ll meet again one sunny day..... Our final night in Bangkok is suitably spent in the wonderful 5* Plaza Athenee Hotel, a luxurious property with facilities to match.
Our trip also includes the lovely Montien Riverside Hotel where once again Thai hospitality reigns supreme. Great location, accommodation and excellent hosts make us feel at home and even organise Pad Thai cooking demonstrations. Top of the class cooking skills are awarded to Judy Coughlan (Dawson Travel Cheaper) and Aisling O’Hara (Travelmood).
The Buddhism ethos of respecting all living creatures, ensuring they are fed, deeming them worthy of compassion and love and embracing nature is one that I will certainly bring home and perpetrate. The lotus blossom (the traditional flower brought to Temple) represents darkness to light and ignorance to enlightenment and, when one witnesses the modestly, politeness and courtesy in this country, who could fail to be moved? Tomorrow, it’s Sawasdee (hello!) Phuket, so watch out for more exciting adventures from South East Asia. Rumour has it that a paradise island is on the itinerary for group A and Onur Gul (Turkish Airlines) will be updating me on the antics from his group! Be sure to check in.....
