Travel agents ready for action

#Traveltradetogether

A host of travel agents opened their doors to the public again, though many were still as busy as ever during lockdown, looking after their customers in the background due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Agencies that have opened again include Meehan Travel, Marble City Travel, Manning Travel Kilkenny, Blackpool Travel in Cork, Strand Travel Worldchoice, Harvey Travel Waterford, Kanes Travel in Longford and Travelnet.ie.

A feature of reopening for travel agents include limited capacity, prearranged appointments, a portion of staff continuing to work remotely, protection screens for customers and staff as well as social distancing measures, antibacterial disinfection stations and, as always, a friendly smile to greet the public. Businesses continue to adapt by offering Zoom calls to connect with clients. In the case of Travel Creations, they have fully repositioned to a virtual place of business.

Adapting to the new normal, Travel Creations have moved to the virtual world. Tom Randles (MD J Barter) explains how their bonded and licenced business, Travel Creations has moved online to best serve their customers. Caroline and Brian are available via email, phone, by appointment or by a virtual call through Zoom. This will continue into the future post-Covid-19.

“Since the outbreak of Covid-19, our Waterford shop trading as Travel Creations along with the rest of our company has been in lockdown with each staff member working remotely. During this period the lease on our shop in Lisduggan has expired… [it] forced a major re-think on how our company operates. For this reason, we have decided that going forward we will continue to serve our many Waterford Area clients remotely”.

“Please be assured that our company which has been in business for over 150 years will continue to provide the highest quality advice and service to all our many repeat Waterford customers”.

“It is important to stress that our company is well resourced, fully licensed and bonded in accordance with Government Regulations through the Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAA). We are also long-time members of the IATA and the ITAA, and continue to work closely with both organisations”.

Finally, agencies are putting their best foot forward and finding opportunities and support despite the current climate. As previously reported, Magic Vacations won a Sky ad campaign and now Freedom Travel is finding and seizing opportunities! Ciara Mooney (Freedom Travel) shared that her agency was one of the lucky recipients of DMG Media’s advertising fund to support small businesses impacted by COVID-19 with a tailored advertising package worth €5,000.
