Princess Protects Travel Agent Commissions

Princess Cruises all cruise departures up to and including June 30, 2020. In addition, there are modifications to the Alaska season including the cancellation of all Princess Alaska Gulf cruises and cruisetours. The five wilderness lodges, trains and buses operated by Princess in Alaska will not open this summer. The line will continue its roundtrip sailings from Seattle to Alaska on Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess.

Princess Cruises is offering two cancellation options. Guests booked on cancelled voyages, who paid in full, will receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equivalent to 100% of the cruise fare paid plus an additional 25% FCC for a cruise that sails on or before May 1, 2022. No action is required for guests to receive this offer and they will be notified by email once the credits have been issued. Alternatively, guests can receive a full refund for all monies paid in full on their booking through an online form. Requests must be received by May 31, 2020, or they will receive the Future Cruise Credit option. Guests who have not yet paid in full will receive a refund of all monies paid.

Princess will protect travel agent commissions on bookings for cancelled cruises that were paid in full, in recognition of the critical role travel agents play in the cruise line’s business and success.

Princess asks guests to please delay in calling the Reservation Call Center due to high call volumes. Guests and their travel agents will be sent communications on how to manage cancellations, rebook another voyage, or request a refund.

Jan Swartz (President Princess Cruises) said: “This global outbreak continues to challenge our world in unimaginable ways. We recognise how disappointing this is to our long-term business partners and thousands of employees, many of whom have been with us in Alaska for decades. We hope everyone impacted by these cancellations – especially our guests, travel agent partners, teammates, and the communities we visit - understand our decision to do our part to protect the safety, health and well-being of our guests and team. We look forward to the brighter days and smooth seas ahead for all of us.”

Each ship will have a unique return to service date based on the previously published cruise itineraries with some modifications, departing after July 1, 2020. See Princess Cruises’ website for more details.

Princess Cruises has temporarily revised its final payment dates and cancellation policies for cruises departing up to 15 Oct 2020. Guests due to depart on a cruise in July 2020 can cancel up to 48 hours prior to departure. Guests due to depart from 1 Aug – 15 Oct 2020 can cancel up to 30 days prior to departure. In both instances, guests will receive a refund; and a future cruise credit to the value of any cancellation fees. Also, the final balance payment date has been reduced from 90 to 60 days prior to sailing for cruises departing up to 15 Oct 2020.

Guests who have booked air travel through Princess Plane Sailing will have any non-refundable flight cancellation fees added to their future cruise credit, while any remaining balance will be returned to the original payment method. Guests will also receive a full refund of any pre-paid items where applicable, such as drinks packages, shore excursions and WiFi. These will be refunded back to the original method of payment. The updated policies apply to all new and existing bookings. Full details of the Cruise with Confidence policy can be found on Princess’ website.
