Falcon/Thomson FAM Family Fun in the Playa Feliz
9th August 2017 - 2:30pm
This is Falcon and Thomson’s self-catering option, adjacent to the Orquidea. It has a substantial pool and paddling pool in its heart. The main restaurant here offers cuisine similar to the Orquidea but on a more intimate scale and overlooks the pool and the sea. With loads to do in terms of activities, it remains a quieter, calmer resort and can be a nice change of scene from the energy of the main hotel. At lunch, a single singer with a guitar gently played at the pool’s edge, in front of the restaurant, which had my pair dancing and most eating outside the restaurant, tapping our feet. As an all inclusive guest you can dine in any of the main restaurants and the resorts share the facilities. There is a supermarket on site and Thea’s Coffee Shop (fantastic coffees) is situated between the pool area and the sea. It is one of my favourite spots for sipping an iced frappuccino whilst listening to the waves gently crash against the shore.
On the accommodation front, the Playa Feliz offers two room types, one bedroom apartments that comfortably sleep up to 4 or for larger families, two-bed apartments that sleep a maximum of 6. While the neighbouring Orquidea rooms were on the modern, minimalistic end of the spectrum, the Playa Feliz opted for a warmer, traditional Spanish style of decor. This tied in nicely with the open and spacious style of the property. The one bedroom apartments have a very generous sized main bedroom and come with a well equipped modern kitchen. Again, like the Orquidea, the apartments offered fast and free WiFi in the rooms. Perfect for the kids to catch up on Netflix and YouTube while Mom and Dad sit out on the balcony or terrace to enjoy a chilled glass of wine. A Real Slice of Spanish Charm in Las Palmas.
