United is expecting its busiest Spring Break* ever – with more than 24M passengers expected to fly with us

#Traveltradetogether

Forecast and Trends

  • United is expecting its busiest Spring Break* ever – with more than 24M passengers expected to fly with us between March 10 – April 27, about 5% more than last year.

United will operate more than 4,500 flights per day on average, and the week of March 10 will be the busiest with more than half a million people expected to fly United every day. This is the equivalent of more than the entire population of Miami getting on a plane every day.

  • Orlando, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Cancun, Mexico are United’s top three destinations for the last two years in a row – but an increase in Spring Breakers are picking snow instead of sun this year:

United is seeing a more than 20% increase in bookings to Bishop/Mammoth, California and a 10% increase to Vail and Steamboat, Colorado compared to last year.

  • International bookings are up 8% compared to last year:

Behind Cancun, Mexico – London, England and Frankfurt, Germany are the top international destinations, as United customers take advantage of connection options on Lufthansa from Frankfurt to other cities in Europe.

  • Flight bookings to Coachella are up – indicating music tourism will again be big this year:

So far, bookings to Palm Springs are up 30% compared to last year on the two days leading up to Coachella (April 9 and 10, 2025 vs April 10 and 11, 2024).

  • Gen Z is heading for the beach with Cancun, Mexico; Orlando, Florida; and Honolulu, Hawaii among the age group’s top destinations.

For Gen Z travellers still planning their spring break getaways – United has an exclusive young adult discount for MileagePlus® members ages 18-23**.

Travel Tips

  • United is ready to welcome Spring break travellers.

United flew more people every day in February than any other February in our history, and we did it reliably. Even though winter weather struck many of our hubs in mid-February, we were number one among our competitors for on-time mainline departures.

  • The United mobile app can help travellers save up to 30 minutes on average at the airport thanks to tools like mobile check-in, online bag drop, personalised wayfinding to the gate, and live flight updates.
  • Easily track your Apple AirTag: United has integrated Apple’s Share Item Location feature for AirTag into its mobile app – enabling United customers everywhere who travel with an AirTag or Find My network accessory to privately, securely, and seamlessly share the accessory location with the airline’s customer service team.
  • Skip the check-in line and drop off bags, including skis, in under a minute at one of the more than 50 airports globally that United has a designated bag drop shortcut location – travellers can check their bags in the United app before arriving at the airport and quickly drop off their bags upon arrival at the airport.
  • Connections are more stress-free: United’s ConnectionSaver technology automatically scans flights for customers who are making tight connections to determine if the connecting flight can be held without inconveniencing other customers. This technology helped save more than 725,000 customer connections in 2024.
  • Last minute travellers can explore different options using United’s interactive destinations map to compare and shop for flights based on departure city, budget and even travel interests like beaches, national parks, hiking and more.

*We define the spring break travel period as March 10 – April 27

**To utilise United’s young adult discount, travellers must be 18-23 at the time of booking. They must also be a MileagePlus member with their birthday on file and book within the United app. The terms and conditions can be found here.
