Delta launches nonstop Dublin-Minneapolis service

Airline to serve four U.S. gateways nonstop, offering greater connections across North America.

Irish customers looking for U.S. adventures this summer can enjoy an even greater choice of destinations. Delta Air Lines’ brand new daily nonstop service from Dublin to Minneapolis which begins today, is the airline’s fourth U.S. gateway served nonstop from Ireland. The flight will complement Delta’s existing daily services from Dublin to Atlanta, Boston, and New York-JFK.

The new route comes as demand for travel between Ireland and the United States soaring, and Delta will be offering almost 12,500 weekly seats between Dublin and the United States during the peak season, an increase of 28% year over year. Delta is proud to expand links between the two countries and has carried over seven million passengers between Ireland and the U.S. since it started service in 1986.

With demand for travel between Ireland and the United States soaring, Delta will be offering almost 12,500 weekly seats between Dublin and the United States during the peak season, an increase of 28% year over year.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Delta as we start our first Dublin to Minneapolis flight. We’re thrilled to be connecting these two cities and provide customers with even more travel options to the United States,” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India. “Ireland has also long been a top choice for American visitors and with strong demand and a greater number of flights we look forward to bringing more customers to enjoy the Emerald Isle.”

Delta is the largest carrier operating out of Minneapolis, with up to 345 daily flights to over 120 domestic and international destinations during the height of summer. This means greater choice and convenience for Irish passengers to explore more of the U.S. and beyond.

Managing Director of Dublin Airport, Gary McLean, welcomed Delta’s new route from Dublin to Minneapolis-Saint Paul saying, “This new route expands Delta’s services from Dublin Airport from three to four major U.S. hubs: Atlanta, Boston, New York and now Minneapolis. Passengers flying from Ireland’s capital city airport to the United States will now have an expanded choice of destinations, coupled with Delta’s award-winning customer service when flying this summer.”

The new service will operate on Delta’s Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring four product experiences: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin. Delta One customers can stretch out in a lie-flat seat and enjoy premium amenities like plush bedding made from recycled plastic bottles, more beverage options, and a seasonal chef-curated four-course meal. Customers flying in Delta Premium Select will have more space to relax and stretch out, with a wider seat, deeper recline and an adjustable footrest and leg rest.

All customers can enjoy a wide selection of in-flight entertainment options via Delta Studio movies, TV series, music, podcasts and more – as well as onboard Wi-Fi and free mobile messaging to stay connected.

In addition, pre-clearance at Dublin Airport enables customers to clear U.S. customs and immigration prior to boarding, saving them time on arrival at their destination. Ireland is one of the world’s only countries to offer this benefit to travellers flying to the United States.

Discover Minneapolis, Delta’s newest destination

Around ten percent of Minnesota’s inhabitants claim Irish heritage. The state is known as the ‘Land of 10,000 Lakes’ and Minneapolis is the perfect destination for outdoors enthusiasts, boasting every water sport from canoeing and paddleboarding to sailing and fishing. The city’s Uptown neighbourhood offers an abundance of hip boutiques, eclectic eateries, and cool hangouts. Sports buffs can catch all the action from the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, Hockey, and Major League Soccer.

An abundance of lakes means miles of sandy shores to enjoy. Some of the most popular include Cedar Lake East Beach (Hidden Beach) and Lake Harriet, meanwhile White Sands Beach offers riverside views from the banks of the mighty Mississippi.

St Paul, the smaller of The Twin Cities is a vibrant and diverse city that offers something for everyone. The metropolitan area is home to the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area, 72 miles of forests and wetlands that is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is perfect for visitors who enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, bird, and wildlife watching.

Delta has carried over seven million passengers between Ireland and the U.S. since it started service in 1986. Last year, load factors between the two countries on Delta services averaged 90%.
