Diethelm Travel Soars to New Success with Unstoppable Growth

#Traveltradetogether

Diethelm Travel surpasses pre-COVID booking levels by more than 50% and attributes exciting product developments as key to success.

Since Asia expert, Stephan Roemer, took over the helm at Diethelm Travel in 2018, things have been going from strength to strength. The DMC reached a pivotal sales milestone earlier this year, welcomed two new regional General Manager’s to the team and have launched new product ranges. Just last month they won seven awards at this year’s World Travel Awards, the hallmark of industry excellence, marking Diethelm’s fifth consecutive win as ‘Asia’s Leading Destination Management Company’ and gaining further recognition as the Best DMC in Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Bhutan, and China.

Commenting on Diethelm’s recent successes, Stephan Roemer, CEO said: “This year’s wins are testament to the company’s ongoing growth and underscores our commitment to delivering unparalleled services. As of July this year the business had exceeded its 2019 booking numbers, surpassing pre-COVID levels for the same period (Jan-Jul) by more than 50%. This accomplishment showcases the company’s resilience and ability to thrive even in the most challenging times.”

Under the guidance of a new and dynamic management team, Diethelm Travel has taken a new strategic direction. One of the key factors contributing to recent success has been their commitment to product development and diversification.

“Consumers’ expectations are changing, they no longer want ‘tick box’ travel. They want to genuinely immerse themselves in the culture, learn about traditions, meet local people, and try typical dishes. Encounters and authentic experiences are now the top priority and I am proud and happy that we at Diethelm Travel have become a pioneer for such sustainable and meaningful travel experiences in Asia” added Roemer.

This is just the beginning for a more sustainably successful future for Diethelm. The company has introduced exciting new tours and dynamic packaging options, making it easier for partners to collaborate and providing them with innovative and exciting ways to package travel experiences for their customers.

One of the first destinations to receive a breath of fresh air to its touring program was, market leader, Thailand. Since April 2023, the Bangkok office has been led by tourism specialist, Stefan Bruns, who is driving change with his “just do it” ethos. He is setting new standards in product development.

“In the age of ubiquitous travel, we know that it’s no longer about the miles covered, but the memories created which is why we’ve developed the ‘Heritage Collection’ for Thailand. It’s an exclusive series of seven new trips that focus on rediscovering the country’s age-old treasures, untold tales, and hidden gems with a fresh perspective” said Stefan Bruns.

The new collection offers hands-on experiences with a focus on the true culture, rhythm and spirit of Thai life.

“For us, sustainable travel is a promise, not just a slogan: you can see that in our new tours. By working with small local companies and guides, who are deeply rooted in their communities, we actively and directly support the local people and their crafts,” added Bruns.

Vietnam is also a rapidly changing country and at the forefront of Diethelm’s product development. Guilhem Cavaillé joined as General Manager also in April 2023. Commenting on the new product portfolio he is developing, Cavaillé said: “The dynamics of the destination are changing, there are lots of new hotels and resorts. We see exciting opportunities and are creating more immersive and meaningful tours that are inclusive of local communities.”

For example, Diethelm has reimagined a classic 9-day tour adding in more local experience touch points with communities. A new motorcycle tour to Vietnam’s first rum distillery, just south of Hoi An, offers guests the chance to meet local farmers, learn about the distillation process and barrelling before enjoying an authentic regional lunch.

“These creative ideas are just the beginning. Our current and future clients can be excited about what’s to come, there has never been a better time to work with Diethelm Travel as your DMC partner “, concluded Roemer.

Diethelm Travel will be unveiling a host of new products at WTM 2023 and updating partners on key news and developments. Visit them at stand S9-124 and meet the General Managers from Philippines, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Contact Mr. David Carlaw, UK Director of Sales, for further information.
