Slovakia Celebrates Constitution Day
Jacinta from Travelbiz joins His Excellency, Andrej Droba, at his Embassy on Merrion Square in Dublin on September 1st to celebrate the Day of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic.
Having been privileged to visit Slovakia a few times, I can attest to the country’s beauty and feel honoured to have strolled the narrow, meandering streets of its very special capital city, Bratislava. Rich culture, street art, historic monuments and lovely architecture are the stand-out features and every corner is a photographer’s dream.
On this proud occasion for Slovakia, the delightful Ambassador is joined by his beautiful wife, Mrs Daniela Drobova, and we enjoy a very convivial evening in the beautifully located Embassy overlooking the green space of Merrion Square. Ambassadors from many countries crowd the elegant room.
Following the Slovakian and Irish National Anthems, His Excellency spoke passionately in his fluent and flawless English of the great welcome he has received in Ireland and of the amazing support received from Government. He also made mention of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and thanked all present for ongoing sympathy and pledged renewed support for the cause.
Senator John Cummins (Fine Gael) was introduced and he is widely credited for maintaining good relations between Slovakia and Ireland and the fostering of a Friendship League between the two countries. Finally, a virtuoso performance on the violin had toes tapping in Merrion Square for Slovakian National Day.
