Now Open – Annua Signature Hotels Unveils Gran Hotel Margalida, Mallorca

Today, ANNUA Signature Hotels opens the doors to Gran Hotel Margalida, the brand’s fifth and most eagerly anticipated destination to date in the heart of Mallorca. Following the celebrated openings of César Lanzarote, Son Xotano in Mallorca, and Amagatay and Morvedra Nou in Menorca, Gran Hotel Margalida marks a new chapter for ANNUA shaped by cinematic design, elemental beauty and immersive, slow-paced luxury.

Gran Hotel Margalida – Swimming Pool

Set in the cliffside village of Banyalbufar, where the Serra de Tramuntana meets the Mediterranean Sea, Gran Hotel Margalida settles naturally into Mallorca’s terraced west coast, overlooking the water from one of the island’s most dramatic and unspoilt settings. The opening marks a significant evolution for ANNUA, introducing the brand’s first fully integrated spa and wellness concept alongside ocean-facing dining venues celebrating contemporary Mallorcan flavours, expansive terraces for weddings and events, and a curated programme of experiences designed to connect guests with the culture and natural beauty of the island.

Gran Hotel Margalida – Double Room

Reimagined by interior designer Virginia Nieto, alongside Spanish architects Alvaro Onieva and Alvaro Mesonero Romanos, the historic property has been carefully restored to honour its heritage while introducing a softer, contemporary Mediterranean identity. Natural textures, local materials and clean architectural lines define the interiors, while a bespoke sun-washed yellow, created exclusively for the hotel, brings warmth and cohesion throughout. With just 29 beautifully appointed ocean-facing rooms and suites, interiors are designed to capture the island’s shifting light and unhurried rhythm, with soft tonal hues of beige and cream complemented by Margalida’s signature yellow and elevated by Loewe Candles and Aesop amenities. A restrained material palette of natural stone, handwoven fibres and artisanal finishes rooted in Mallorcan tradition runs throughout, alongside native planting, preserved ironwork and bespoke detailing that anchor the hotel in its setting, creating a quiet coherence between building, landscape and craft, where every element feels singular, grounded and closely connected to place.

Gran Hotel Margalida – Junior Terrace Suite

Throughout the property, craftsmanship takes centre stage. Every piece of furniture has been designed exclusively for the hotel, while traditional Mallorcan materials are reinterpreted in contemporary ways. Handwoven plant-fibre lighting from the Yucatán, locally blown glass, bespoke ceramics and the island’s iconic Telas de Lengua fabric appear throughout the guestrooms and public spaces, celebrating both local heritage and exceptional artisan makers.

Wellbeing: The Baths of Margalida

Gran Hotel Margalida debuts ANNUA’s first fully integrated wellness concept, built around the philosophy that wellbeing is an everyday practice rather than an occasional indulgence.

Designed as a sanctuary overlooking the Mediterranean, the holistic spa combines movement, therapeutic treatments and restorative rituals within a calming, contemporary setting. Facilities include a panoramic fitness studio equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, a dedicated reformer Pilates studio and an outdoor yoga platform with sweeping sea views.

Gran Hotel Margalida

The spa will offer four signature rituals inspired by the landscape of Banyalbufar alongside advanced Natura Bissé facial treatments and an extensive menu of body therapies, from deep tissue and hot stone massage to lymphatic drainage and Ayurvedic rituals. Treatments are tailored to each guest’s individual needs, balancing physical recovery with deep relaxation.

Setting the wellness programme apart will be Margalida’s evolving calendar of visiting practitioners and specialist residencies, introducing new therapies and expertise throughout the year. Together, movement, recovery and personalised care form a holistic approach designed to support resilience, vitality and long-term wellbeing.

Gastronomy: a table between the sea and the mountain

Gastronomy is guided by ANNUA’s philosophy of seasonality and local integrity. Leading the culinary programme is Mallorcan-born Head Chef Joan Escalas, who previously honed his craft at one of the island’s acclaimed two Michelin-starred restaurants before taking his role at Gran Hotel Margalida.

Restaurant Gran Hotel Margalida showcases contemporary Mallorcan cuisine shaped by the island’s seasons, supplied by local fishermen, farmers and producers from the Serra de Tramuntana. Signature dishes will see confit leeks with vanilla and truffle vichyssoise, bluefin tuna with trempó and grilled avocado, sea bass with pil pil and green sauce, grilled dentex with beurre blanc, and confit Mallorcan black pork with cabbage, camaiot and pine nuts. Desserts celebrate local flavours with grilled peach tarte tatin, organic yoghurt ice cream and dark chocolate coulant infused with Palo liqueur. The wine programme champions indigenous Mallorcan varieties alongside a carefully curated selection from mainland Spain, Burgundy, Champagne and other renowned wine regions.

Restaurant Gran Hotel Margalida serves breakfast and dinner atop the hotel’s clifftop positioning, while daytime delicacies include freshly shucked oysters, raw seafood and citrus-led pairings at The Oyster Bar, alongside leisurely lunches, sharing plates and cocktails served by the water at The Pool Bar.

Events and Experiences

Experiences at Gran Hotel Margalida are designed as cinematic moments connected to the landscape and cultural rhythm of Mallorca. Guests are invited to take a voyage on private sailing and sunset tours, guided walks along the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, sample olive oil tasting at the historic neighbouring olive grove of Son Moragues (a 500 year old estate), enjoy gourmet picnics among the local vineyards, screen open-air cinema nights from Margalida’s swimming pool, or take part in artisan craft workshops such as pottery, ceramics, painting, and leatherwork with local craftspeople.

With expansive terraces, shaded courtyards and panoramic views of the coastline, the hotel is poised as an exceptional venue for weddings of up to 150 guests, as well as more intimate celebrations and creative gatherings seeking a distinctly Mediterranean backdrop.

Created for travellers seeking privacy, meaningful connection to place and a quietly luxurious experience, Gran Hotel Margalida continues ANNUA’s philosophy of refined simplicity and design rooted in the Mediterranean. It joins the brand’s growing collection across Mallorca, Menorca and Lanzarote.
