Visit Malta This May!

A trip to the Maltese Islands is an unmissable experience for any type of traveller. With so much to see and do, whether you’re a history buff, a night owl, or just looking for some rest and relaxation; the list of things to do in Malta is endless. May is set to be an exciting month in Malta. There are plenty of events taking place to entertain anyone that may be planning a pre-summer getaway!

Malta Valleta

Just a three-and-a-half-hour flight away, you can fly directly to Malta from Dublin all year round with both Aer Lingus and Ryanair. You can also fly from Shannon and Belfast. There are lots of ways to book your holiday, either through a tour operator, such as Loveholidays, Sunway Travel, Budget Travel and Cassidy Travel or simply book independently.

The Ta’ Sannat Wine Festival will take place on the 2nd May at Sannat Square, Triq Sannat. There will be a fantastic programme of wine tastings, gourmet food pairings, and live music, all set against the charming backdrop of Sannat’s historic streets. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply looking for a delightful evening out, this festival promises an unforgettable experience for all.

This year, the festival is set to be bigger than ever with a lineup that includes, a buzzing food area full of mouth-watering vegan food, a Wellness Zone, a Sports & Fitness area with an outdoor gym, an Eco Market, Pet Area and a Saturday Night Afterparty!

Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the 6th edition of the International Fiat 500 which takes place on the 17th May at Triq Bisazza, Sliema. The event brings together classic-car owners from across the Mediterranean to celebrate the timeless charm of the Fiat 500. Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy a colourful open‑air exhibition featuring beautifully restored Fiat 500s, with plenty of opportunities for photos, conversations, and discovering the stories behind each vehicle.

The Żabbar Street Festival will take place on the 30th and 31st May. The main streets of Ħaż-Żabbar will be transformed into a vibrant hub of activity for everyone to enjoy! There will be a sports day, a car show, darts and billiard tournaments, a kids’ bouncy castle, and artisan stalls. Football fans will be happy to know that the Champions League Final will also be shown on the big screen at Misraħ is-Sliem.

Of course, after such a busy day of sightseeing and activities, you’ll need some nourishment. Luckily, you’re in Malta; home to an abundance of outstanding produce. Food and drink are the very essence of Maltese culture, so it’s not surprising that the Malta Michelin Guide  features a total of 48 restaurants across Malta and Gozo, which includes six restaurants with one Michelin Star, one restaurant with two Michelin Stars (Valletta ION Harbour), and five restaurants with a Bib Gourmand.
