2nd May 2018 - 3:10pm
Turkish Airlines, in conjunction with the Jordan Tourism Board, hosted a trade evening in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin. Julienne Curran (Turkish Airlines) highlighted that the airline has been voted European Airline of the Year for the 6th year in a row. There are 12 flights a week from Dublin's Terminal 1 to Istanbul and beyond to 302+ destinations in 120 countries. Their new airport in Istanbul is on track to open by the end of October 2018 and is expected to be the largest airport in the world, with capacity for 150+ million passengers per annum.
Mahmoud Freihat (Area Marketing Manager Jordan Tourism Board), spoke about some of the highlights of this fascinating country. Petra, famous for the Indiana Jones franchise, is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and is an immense tourist attraction. There is so much to do and see including the capital, Amman, the Mediterranean climate to the North, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea as well as multiple nature reserves and safari excursions. What's more, all of these activities are just a taste of what's on offer and all are a few hours from each other. It's becoming increasingly popular with the adventure segment of the market and is one of the fastest growing tourism sectors. For film buffs, the area of Wadi Rum is a very popular spot for filming, with The Martian starring Matt Damon filmed there. Some of the set has even been converted into a luxurious glamping site.
