Welcome to Namibia with OBEO Travel

A trip to Namibia is a bucket lister in anybody’s imagination and Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz) had a dream realised when she joined Rannveig Snorradottir (Obeo Travel) and Carol Anne O’Neill (Worldchoice) heading off with Qatar Airways via Doha to Namibia’s capital, Windhoek. Located on Africa’s south west coast, Namibia gets its name from the oldest desert on earth, the Namib. The Kalahari Desert even impinges on Namibia’s eastern border. This vast country was under the rule of South Africa and just gained its independence in 1990. Skirted by Botswana, Angola and South Africa and wave bashed by the Atlantic Ocean (remember the Skeleton Coast?), Namibia is fascinating and truly wondrous.

From Windhoek, we fly on our private charter (naturally!) from Eros airport on our Desert Air Cessna with pilot, Berto to Okonjima where we walk with cheetah. Beat that if you can! Okonjima Nature Reserve, home to the wonderful AfriCat Foundation is renowned for helping injured predators and rehabilitating them in their natural habitat. Join us on our African adventure and we’ll spot the leopard and crane our necks for the giraffe on our wildlife safari. Exciting stuff to come!
