Travelbiz meets Shannon Stegall (The Travel Corporation)

This week Travelbiz met Shannon Stegall (Marketing and PR Executive, The Travel Corporation) to take a look at Shannon’s loves, likes and who she would most like to meet and why.

Favourite Super Hero: Wonder Woman, because she travels the world to teach others about empathy and tolerance, she can speak every language, and she is a bad-ass role model for young girls. She proves that you can be strong and compassionate at the same time and she always fights for what she believes is right. What’s not to love?

I love people who: Go after what they want in life. Life is short and if you don’t grab it by the horns, it will pass you by. The world is constantly telling you why you can’t and why you shouldn’t, and it takes a strong person to ignore societal pressures and pave their own way/follow their passions. As a woman who has travelled the world independently and paid my own way through two degrees, I think it’s very important to preach independence and confidence in your own ability to achieve your goals. I admire that trait in others and gravitate towards those with ambition and drive.

I’ve always wanted to: Be a backup dancer for Brittany Spears. As a former professional hip-hop dancer (in a former life, it seems), that was always the dream. Unfortunately, as soon as I caught the travel bug my dance career went down the tube, as I couldn’t stay in one destination long enough to make it to a rehearsal.

Favourite movie of all time: Mean Girls. Iconic cast, great plot and one of the most referenced films of all time. It’s one I can watch again and again without getting bored.

Favourite destination: Ireland, so much so that a 2-day visit in 2014 persuaded me to move here! Notable mention goes out to Brisbane, Australia as well, as I was fascinated by the mix of tropical rain forest and big vibrant city.

I would most like to meet and why: John Oliver. I think he has a brilliant way of combining journalism and comedy in a way that is entertaining and still informative. Seems like he would be good fun at a dinner party.
