Find attached the description of the new EU Digital COVID Certificate which Spain is adopting from July 1st. Ireland will adopt it on the 19th July once non-essential travel resumes.  This means that vaccinated people will not have to show a negative PCR test. Ireland is currently at 102 cases, so if in the meantime the country number of cases went below 75, the ECDC would classify Ireland as Green and a PCR test would not be needed.

As part of the measures being put in place by Spain and the different Spanish Autonomous Regions, we would like to highlight that some of the regions have an International Travel Insurance. This insurance will be an important turning point in terms of safety and possibilities offered to international tourists who goes to Spain in times of COVID-19.

Any tourist in these Spanish Autonomous Regions\Communities staying in regulated tourist accommodation who is unfortunate to get Covid-19 during their stay will be covered under this agreement for medical expenses, health repatriation and extension of stays due to quarantine related regulations (max. 15 days).

However, it is wise that tourists have their own personal insurance and read all policy conditions. The Spanish Regions with this insurance are:

  • Andalucia
  • Canary Islands
  • Murcia
  • Balearic Islands
  • In a couple of weeks also Galicia will have a similar insurance.

Menorca, first and only Spanish region or island that starts with the ‘new normal’ phase.

Menorca is a safe destination. The latest report from the Health Ministry at the end of March has classified the island as such based on the good Covid-19 monitoring indicators. Along with Valencia they are the only regions to keep the AI rate below 50 cases (out of every 100,000 population and no coronavirus cases in over 65-year-olds. Menorca is a Biosphere Reserve - a safe and environmentally friendly destination with open spaces and low numbers of visitors.35% of Menorca’s population has already had their first dose of vaccination and over 14% is fully vaccinated.
