The Algarve adopts the ‘Clean & Safe’ stamp for tourism companies to promote the recovery of the sector.

The Algarve Tourism Board and Turismo de Portugal are working on tourism recovery, developing new protocols

From 24 April, all tourism companies and travel agencies registered by the National Tourism Authority of Portugal (ANT) can request their company stamp ‘Clean & Safe’. This will distinguish which businesses have implemented all the hygiene & safety protocols defined by the Portuguese authorities. The stamp will be valid for one year and it requires the implementation of measures required to avoid risks of contagion, and guarantees the operation of tourist activities in safe conditions. The ultimate goal of this measure is to reinforce security at the destination, as well as the confidence of the tourist.

Other initiatives are being progressed by the Algarve Tourist Board including a 'Good Practices - Covid Free' guide applicable to the different touristic activities that take place in the region: golf courses, beaches, hotels, restaurants, bars, marinas and recreational ports, car rental companies, water parks and tourist entertainment companies, among others.

As stated by the President of the Algarve Tourism Board, João Fernandes, "In coordination with the Tourism authorities of Portugal, we are making a great effort to implement action protocols that guarantee safety in the destination and allow recovery of the tourist sector. We are committed to developing all the necessary measures, with the ultimate goal of reinforcing security and confidence in the destination", he stressed.
