Sunway & G Adventures Climbing Kilimanjaro for Charity

29th November 2019 - 4:45pm

Sunway’s Tanya Airey and G Adventures’ Brian Young tell us about their fundraising efforts ahead of their mammoth climb of Africa’s highest peak, the mighty Kilimanjaro this November.

Leaders from across the travel industry are undertaking the challenge to raise money to develop new social enterprises that support local communities. As G Adventures is funding the cost of the trip for participants, EVERY PENNY goes towards the fundraising effort.

Tanya is representing Ireland and travelled to Africa on 23rd November, joining the other ten hikers taking on the 8-day Machame Route. This involves 6 days of hiking and camping with the summit to be reached on 30th November.

Speaking about the climb, Tanya said, “We should expect businesses and corporations to help make the world a better, nicer place. I feel that I, and our company, Sunway have an onus to use our platform of skills and talents to help develop people and places who haven’t had the same good fortune as we have. I am delighted to play a small part, with G Adventures, of helping them with their social enterprise work. We can all make an impact in terms of working conditions, human rights, health, the environment, innovation, education and training and Sunway are delighted to do so”.
