Santa Monica Sweetness Shines through Kristin Skinner
30th June 2018 - 11:40am
Santa Monica Tourist Board, in conjunction with the luxurious Fairmount Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and Hotel Shangri La, hosted their annual Irish market event in the ever popular Fade Street Social on Drury Street.
This classic California beach town is the perfect base for any southern California adventure. It is proximate to Hollywood (14 miles), Disneyland, LAX, Downtown LA, Beverley Hills (7.5 miles) and of course, next to the beach. Santa Monica has won top 10 beaches in the US (TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Awards, 2018). Getting here is made easier still, following the recent completion of the new Expo Line linking Santa Monica with Downtown Los Angeles.
Santa Monica isn't just a good eating town, it's an international dining destination with a choice of accommodation for anyone's tastes - super chic, art deco, urban lodge, eco or family friendly, the options are endless. It's also a haven for star spotting, culture, shopping as well as stunning beaches with 300 days of sunshine.
Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows has an urban resort atmosphere and is close to Santa Monica Pier & 3rd Street Promenade, famous for its shopping, dining, live entertainment, weekly farmers' market and more. Hotel Shangri La has recently undergone a $30m refurbishment, emphasising its art deco design with a 360-degree view from its rooftop bar. Two top choices for stays abroad.
On the night, the table quiz champion won a trip of a lifetime to Santa Monica (including flights with BA). It went down to the wire with a tie-breaker between Kristin Skinner (American Holidays) and Mary Jane (Budget Travel). While Kirstin won the tie-breaker, having enjoyed Santa Monica living for 2 years, she very generously gave the prize to an ecstatic Mary Jane. A real feel-good moment for all.
