RIP Gerry O’Hare 1941-2020

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of a dear friend and colleague Gerry O’Hare last week. Gerry will be remembered by us all as one of the true characters of our industry, always full of fun and mischief regaling us with stories of his colourful past.

Gerry set up Travel Extra in 1995 following the collapse of the Irish Press group and what a welcome addition he was to our industry. We shared many a round of golf, press trips in my Canada days, American Holidays, Falcon, JWT, First Choice and TUI. The top name on all press trips over the years was Gerry O’Hare, guaranteed coverage and fun in a way that was unique to the man.

Gerry will be remembered by all the Travelbiz team, our readers, followers and trade partners as one of the true greats. Rest in peace Gerry and to Anne and all the family we pass on our deepest condolences.
