Senior award winning Travelbiz reporter, Jacinta Mc Glynn recently visited the city that rocks with the Visit USA team and trade partners. Jacinta will be flying with Don Shearer today from Dublin to bring you all the pictures and reports from this year’s conference.

Visit USA Ireland, together with Discover Philadelphia & Capitol Region USA treated a group of travel agents and media to a fab Fam trip where we’re first exploring the fantastic city of Philadelphia. Breakfast in Reading Terminal Market was fun – you gotta try Tommy Dinic’s roast beef or sausage sandwiches. Yum.


At the base of Philadelphia Art Museum, the iconic statue of Rocky Balboa is inspiration to every underdog the world over and, naturally, you just have to run up those steps! The museum itself, located on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is extraordinary and the beautiful building showcases an amazing collection. From culture to crime, we have a wonderful tour of Eastern State Penitentiary and witness first-hand the grim conditions in this historic prison. Once “home” to Al Capone for a short while, Eastern State only closed in 1971. A private tour of the Barnes Foundation displays an absolutely enthralling collection of masterpieces, housed in a most eccentric fashion. The works of art, estimated in the region of $30 billion (yes Billion!) are simply a sight for sore eyes and, yes, a mini heist was considered. More Matisse, Modigiliani, Van Gogh and Monet than you could shake a paintbrush at! Our last stop is Yards Brewery offering craft beers and a gastro pub experience. Our enthusiastic guide, Mike, shows us the process of brewing, bottling, canning and kegging, then left us to the process of drinking. As if……
