Life is a Journey - Travel Trade Together
#traveltradetogether
Travelbiz’s senior award-winning reporter, Jacinta McGlynn, brings you more of her favourite Travelbiz memories from her lens and pen. Remember the good times as they will return.
“We need to start thinking of all the things that we didn’t have time for before – looking after family; keeping in touch with old friends; calling elderly neighbours; taking up a hobby or perfecting a pastime that was heretofore time consuming. Go walking (with requisite social distance, of course); get into the garden or plant some cheery flowers on the balcony; paint the house or the garden shed or a picture to hang on the wall! Cue Mr Shearer – talent will out. Who would have thunk it, ya budding Hockney!
“Times are hard for dreamers”, said Amelie Poulain, but sometimes dreams are all we have. Don’t let them go”.
It’s time to be a bit nicer to ourselves. Plan your next holiday or schedule a fabulous itinerary for a favourite client. Have a little treat. I’m already thinking of a glass of Rioja and some Jamon Iberico (and it’s only 11.00 am!) or what about a cheeky little shot of Vinho Verde and a Portuguese custard tart or perhaps a hearty cheeseburger and an ice-cold beer?
When Leo Varadker addressed the nation with his wonderfully empathetic and dramatic words, I was reminded (even though I wasn’t actually there!!!) of the famous Winston Churchill wartime speech of “We’ll fight them on the beaches”. A patriotic call to arms. We’re all in this together. Let’s all stay together, stay safe and fight them BACK onto the beaches!
“We’re all in this together and always remember in times of vicissitude: This too shall pass”.
