Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz) attended the Spanish Tourist Office celebration of all things Andalucian in the salubrious surrounds of Trinity College. “Let’s talk about Andalucia” was the theme for the evening and it was a resounding success. A great number of Dublin travel agents were present at the workshop where Tourist Boards, Paradores and agencies were represented. Almeria, Cadiz, Costa del Sol, Huelva, Sevilla, Holidays2Malaga, Puerto Antilla Hotel, Barcelo Cabo de Gato Hotel, Viajes Olympia, Ruta Solar and Turismo de Andalucia all plied their wares and the Irish agents honed their knowledge and sharpened their expertise.

The Tourist Office of Spain, ably managed by Teresa Gancedo and aided by the hardworking Kathryn Mc Donnell and Sara Lopez Rivero were on hand to ensure the evening went smoothly. Sr Antonio Martin (Marketing Manager UK & Ireland) and Sr Javier Gonzalez (Deputy Head of Mission Spanish Embassy) gave impassioned speeches as to why the Irish should travel to the region. As if we needed an excuse! A delicious dinner followed in the grandeur of the Trinity Dining Hall where John Spollen, ITAA President gave a well-researched talk on the Irish love of Spain, our symbiotic relationship and ongoing friendship. A piano virtuoso, Jorge Bedoya, brought the assembled guests to their feet – a fitting end to a super Spanish event.
