Torrance Lewis, Liz Fox and Donovan Donaldson from the Jamaican Tourist Board, alongside a host of hoteliers from the Caribbean Island, were over to promote their latest sales mission, Heartbeat of the World. Shane Cullen (Travelbiz) was at the event in the heart of the city centre, the Radisson Blu Royal, Golden Lane, Dublin. Torrance shared with the fifty-strong audience, the reason why they chose this new tag line for Jamaica was to do with the people. They are the heart and soul of the island. Their warm and caring nature is one of the main reasons clients return time and time again. Also, it highlights the island’s location, in the heart of the Caribbean.

The team also touched on the amazing array of excursions available on the island. With over 175+ available to experience it is much more than lush vegetation, white sandy beaches and reggae music though it has all of that too. While everyone knows the island’s connection with Bob Marley, it also has a huge part to play in Sir Ian Fleming’s 007 series with the books having been written on the island. With the launch of the latest movie, No Time To Die, Jamaica features heavily in the latest Bond adventure.

The various hoteliers promoted a great choice of properties made popular by the likes of American royalty, Jackie Onassis and Marilyn Monroe. Also available is the Round Hill Hotel & Villas where you can rub shoulders with Ralph Lauren. Incidentally, he not only designed the interior but also owns a villa on the property.

Torrance welcomed the trade to sign up with to learn and earn rewards including cash incentives, Fam trips and free nights. Currently, the tourist board is running a “No Time To Die” James Bond incentive where you can earn a place on a VIP James Bond fam. Karen Whyte (Classic Resorts) was the first winner. You could join Karen by booking and logging any holidays you sell on and remember, you must include flights with airline sponsor Virgin Atlantic.

After an informative evening, Donovan Donaldson hosted a fantastic quiz and gave away a host of spot prizes. Shane was sceptical at the start when the plan was for everyone to log into the hotel wifi and download an app. It proved incredibly wrong, it worked seamlessly. The questions appeared on screen and entrants had to answer on their phones in under a few seconds. Winners and results were instantly projected to the screen and it served to boost the energy and suspense in the audience. Well done to all involved, the evening proved both interesting and wonderfully entertaining.
