Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz) joined a sales mission from Illinois in the USA in the Dublin Writer’s Museum in Parnell Square to brush up on the myriad attractions of this lovely US State. Cory Jobe (Director of Illinois Office of Tourism) gave us a rousing and impassioned speech and encouraged visitors to explore the entire State – imagine discovering where the Mother Road (the iconic Route 66) meets the Great River Road National Scenic Byway – to enjoy historic sites, entertainment, fun photo ops and experience the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

This startling State is not all about the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright in Oak Park, Chicago, or its world class Art Gallery or its location on Lake Michigan, but so much more. Martina Coogan from United Airlines told us of the importance Chicago is as a hub with 16.4 million passengers travelling through annually. I’m definitely up for Illinois for a nostalgic slice of Americana. It’s not all about Chicago, ya know!
