The Irish Travel Agents Association’s Pat Dawson (CEO) and John Spollen (President) hosted a delicious lunch for the media in the fashionable Cliff Townhouse Restaurant on Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green as a pre-cursor to a bit of a cliff hanger at Aviva Stadium afterwards! Organised by the uber-efficient Kathryn Byrne from Limelight Communications, the afternoon was special from start to finish.

One particular Travelbiz reporter had never set foot in Aviva, so excitement was rife for a unique experience. It certainly was. The kick-off to Six Nations 2020 with Ireland V Scotland was more fun with a couple of Scotties beside Jacinta (Tom Sweeney and Jim Murty) who knew better than to shout for Alba…. The stadium was packed to capacity (54,000 rugby diehards) and there were 40 shades of green and more kilts, sporrans and tartan trews than you could throw a caber at. Plenty of emerald green curly wigs were in evidence too. Stunning architecture of the Aviva was the backdrop for a game that, at times, appeared a bit lacklustre and listless (Pundit Pat Dawson kept me abreast of scrums and conversions!), but was ultimately rewarding. We won. Eire abu! Thanks ITAA for fun and games and the wearin’ of the green.
