Travelbiz’s Shane Cullen and the Irish travel trade boarded the MSC Grandiosa UK & Ireland launch in Southampton for an overnight celebration and a return of the “All-Stars of the Sea” agent awards.

The always enthusiastic Suzanne, Erica and Alana were waiting at Southampton port to welcome the trade and Travelbiz onboard to experience true “greatness at sea”. The MSC Grandiosa is MSC’s newest and largest ship (Meraviglia plus class) and a big sister ship of the Bellissima and Meraviglia. This feat of engineering was a marvel to behold, with ultra-modern decor and the infamous Swarovski crystal staircase at its centre.

The guests enjoyed a whirlwind 24 hours to experience an interactive ship tour, a Cirque du Soleil at Sea show and dinner in one of the ship’s 12 dining restaurants. The dining experiences include new speciality restaurants, HOLA! Tapas Bar by Ramón Freixa and French l’Atelier Bistrot as well as Jean-Philippe Maury Chocolaterie & Chocolate Bar. Shane dined in the luxurious Purple Crab with two-star Michelin chef, M. Raymond Blanc overseeing five-star cuisine. The Irish contingent enjoyed a really fantastic meal with Shane opting for salmon tartare and caviar to start, leg of lamb for mains and royal cake for dessert.

A snapshot of some of the highlights onboard includes a wild forest aquapark, web creator room, F1 simulator, a virtual reality maze, interactive cinema, games arcade as well as a host of entertainment venues to keep all ages entertained. Catering for the little ones is an impressive, dedicated children’s areas designed in conjunction with LEGO - a kid’s paradise.

When the activities have ended, energy levels have dropped and it is time to retire to bed, there is the comfort of a sleek and stylish cabin to enjoy. Shane stayed in a Balcony cabin which was well appointed and very comfortable.
