Jane Masterson (Emirates) and Kannika Mac (Tourism Authority of Thailand) hosted a joint Fam trip to Chiang Mai and the relatively unknown island of Koh Samet. The eight agents who enjoyed this 5-star trip were Elaine McManus (Club Travel), Sarah Fitzpatrick (Discover Travel), Ciara Donnelly (Trailfinders), Lynne McIlvenna (Travel Solutions), Norma Tolefe (World Travel Centre), Fiona Dobbyn (Classic Resorts), Debbie Martin (Traveller Secrets) and Leah Quinn (Hayes & Jarvis).

The group visited the new East Lounge at Dublin Airport and enjoyed the onboard service before connecting in Dubai to experience behemoth of the air, the A380 to Bangkok. Vanda from Tour East (DMC) gave a warm welcome to the land of a thousand smiles.

The first night was spent at the Berkeley Hotel, Bangkok and the group were joined by Andrew Hoskins (Sales Manager Bangkok Airways UK & IRL). The group took a flight sponsored by Bangkok Airways to Chiang Mai. Here the group spent 2 nights at the Siripanna Villa Resort with a dinner hosted by Andrew Hoskins (Bangkok Airways) which was specially created by Chef Huen Slip Slah.

In Chiang Mai, the group visited the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple, the Elephant Nature Park and enjoyed a traditional Thai massage. They also visited the tranquil setting of the Raya Heritage River Sanctuary where they enjoyed a traditional Thai lunch in its beautiful restaurant, fitted with local materials which used local produce in their cooking.

After two nights at the Siripanna Resort, the group travelled with Air Asia down to U-Tapao Airport where they caught a ferry to Koh Samet. They stayed at the Sai Kaew Beach Resort which has three properties on the island. The group enjoyed beachside dinner under the starry skies at the Kaew Beach resort and watched an exhilarating fire display on the lively beach. They enjoyed a Thai cooking class at Le Viman Cottages & Spa and a 5-star afternoon and evening at the Paradee Resort. The final night was spent at the 5-star Le Bua in Bangkok where they braved the dizzying heights of the Sky Bar (features in the Hangover 2 movie). A fabulous trip and really well-organised itinerary by TAT and fantastic service all round by Emirates!
