Crete, set in the south side of the Aegean Sea, is the largest of the Greek islands and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece with unique architectural, archaeological and natural heritage combined with an exceptional tourist infrastructure.   The capital is Heraklion.   Falcon Holidays / Thomson operate an extensive programme of holidays to Crete to cater for Irish holidaymakers.   During our brief whistle-stop FAM we visited a range of hotels featured by our hosts including the Rethymno Residence, Aquila Rethymna Beach and Porto Rethymon, Golden Beach Hotel Rethymon, Petradi Beach and Atlantica Akti Zeus.   We also checked out the Soneo Club Chrissi Amoudia, Sensatori Resort Crete by Atlantica, Lyttos Beach, Ilios Malia and Hotel Malia Dedalos.   On our final day we visited the Sensimar Elounda Village, Manos Apartments and Minos Palace.   During our free time some of our group toured the archaeological site in Knossos while others checked out the sights, streets and shops of Heraklion and naturally everybody also took time out to soak up some sun and enjoy the facilities of the Nana Beach hotel.
