Can’t get physical, so let’s go online instead! A marvellous celebration of all that is wonderful, talented, artistic and delicious in Northern Ireland took place on Wednesday evening when Travelbiz was invited by Tourism NI to Embrace a Giant Spirit. Prefaced by the receipt of a gorgeous hamper, filled with goodies of edibles, drinkables, lightables and warm-upables (love making up words), every region represented with Armagh, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Down and Antrim all featuring in delicious guises and proof positive that Northern Ireland produces quality goods of the highest order.

The Celebration had an amazing opening sequence, live from the Titanic in Belfast, and the professional hosts, Conor Phillips and Holly Hamilton, were friendly and engaging. The extraordinary talent shone performances from Derry-born singer Roe (think grumpy electro pop!), Neil Martin (Belfast Composer), Rachel Tucker (singing a Snow Patrol number) and Ryan Mc Mullan from Portaferry with the voice of an angel. Fond memories from Patrick Kielty and fun anecdotes from original Derry Girl, Jamie Lee O’Donnell, were in the line-up too.

We had Chef Simon and Paula who showcased mouth-watering produce with singing flavours and all of them unique to Northern Ireland. World class. By the way, the Red Room in Hillsborough Castle is truly magnificent with splendid works of art and, the Anglo-Irish Agreement was signed here!

Esteemed artist, Colin Davidson, renowned for his stunning portraits of virtually every famous person on the planet, explained his logo ‘Embrace a Giant Spirit’. It evolved from the trinity of coastline & lakes, landscape and spirit & warmth of welcome from the people. Perfect.

What a night! It would have warmed the cockles of yer wee heart. And that was apart from the luscious Fermanagh gin! Shout it out. Northern Ireland is worth shouting about.
