The Atlantic Joint Venture (AJV) Group kicked off their 2020 roadshow in the Alex Hotel on 26th February. AJV consists of seven airlines United, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings and cover over 600 destinations with over 10,000 daily flights and 20m passengers per annum. Martina Coogan (United), Blaithin O'Donnell (Air Canada) and Helen Fyfe (Lufthansa Group) all presented on new routes, new aircraft and reduced carbon footprints (thanks to state of the art aircraft), followed by a fun quiz with prizes.

Martina detailed United’s exciting new daily route to San Francisco on a new 787-8 Dreamliner (from 6 June) and a Dreamliner 787-10 serving the daily Dublin to Newark route. United also have Washington DC and Chicago direct services from Dublin.

Blaithin (Air Canada) advised that the 787-9 Dreamliner will cover the daily service to Toronto from 30 March. Air Canada will also fly Dublin-Montreal 3 times weekly on an A330 from 23 May then 4 times weekly from July to September. The A330 will also fly to Vancouver 4 times weekly from 22 May to mid-October.

Premium Economy has been proving very popular with leisure travel and Air Canada has it available on all Irish departures. It offers more than just extra legroom, it comes with the added perks of a larger seat and larger TV screen with your premium meals served on china dishware.

Last but certainly by no means least, Helen (Lufthansa) reminded us that Lufthansa is Europe’s only 5-star airline with award-winning service available onboard. An upgraded experience is now available on Brussels Airlines with new Business and Premium Economy classes available. Swiss is also introducing a premium economy offering.

After the trade updates, it was onto a fun quiz, which tested both the audience’s general and AJV Group knowledge. Three amazing prizes were up for grabs: 2 return Polaris Business Class seats from Dublin to Newark with United for winner Katie Nolan (Centre Travel). Air Canada tickets on any Dublin to Canada service went to Dean O'Rourke (Tour America). Swiss gave away 2 x 250 euro vouchers on any Swiss Airlines flight which went to Adriana Olarte (The Travel Department). All in all, another great AJV event.
