Let’s get this show on the road! In the capable hands of Tryphavana Cross (Chairperson Visit USA Committee Ireland) and Tony Lane (Executive Director Visit USA Committee Ireland), the Dublin Roadshow kicked off in the 5 *Leinster Hotel on Dublin’s Mount Street on May 7th. Sophisticated and luxurious, the Leinster provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of networking with a great turnout from the trade.

Tryphavana welcomed everyone and thanked travel agents and airlines for attending. Clare Dunne (CEO ITAA) urged all present to continue learning and glean valuable information from the travel partners. This was vital in the role of travel agents to stay ahead of the game.

We enjoyed colourful and educational presentations from Sarah Hanson (Central Florida); Anita Skibiel (The Florida Keys & Key West); Rukhsana Timmins ((Visit Space Coast); Melanie Benetar (Visit Lauderdale) and Rachel Matthewson(Visit Utah). Last but certainly not least, Paul Manning (Hertz) gave the rapt audience a lesson in great marketing when all the preceding speakers gave a shout out to Hertz car hire.

In Central Florida, it’s all about Lego Land, Peppa Pig, Sea Life Florida, Bok Tower Gardens and Westgate River Ranch. All round family fun for sure.

Visit Utah needs little introduction as Monument Valley (think Forrest Gump and Thelma & Louise) is famed for movie scenes; National Parks, Dark Skies and Salt Lake City as the original HQ of the Mormons and the Church of Latter Day Saints.

In Lauderdale, water culture is definitely the thing! With 24 miles of beautiful beaches and 300 miles of navigable waterways, its little wonder that Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America! Yacht capital of the world, come on ye sailors!

Florida Keys & Key West offers a gateway to Everglades National Park and the dive capital of the world. A huge emphasis on wildlife conservation sees various refuge centres like Turtle Hospital and Dolphin Research Centre. Famous Key West at the southernmost tip of the USA, is iconic. A moniker of Close to Perfect, Far from Normal seems to fit!

Space Coast is not all about rockets blasting and take-offs and launches to space, but its vastly interesting and exciting! The low-key communities (with lovely shops and local restaurants) are warm and welcoming. Cocoa Beach is a surfer’s paradise and bioluminescence activities on the water are fascinating.

Hertz car hire is surely the way to go when traversing the US as the vehicles are ultra reliable, affordable and, perhaps with a convertible, you can race across America with a gentle breeze on your face and imagine all sorts of movie stardom on the horizon!
