TIGS Con Horgan Presidents day
22nd December 2022 at 12:00 pm Our President, Mr Con Horgan, hosted lucky TIGS members in his own club, Royal Dublin Golf Club on 6th September 2022, in what was our final outing of the 2022 season. A very fitting end to a successful TIGS season, not only did Con host at his home club, but his Castlerosse Park Resort in Killarney also generously sponsored the event and prizes. As we kept an eagle (the only eagle experienced for the day!) eye on the weather, luck was on our side for the front 9, and despite a deluge from the 14th, the day went off swimmingly otherwise. Regrettably, a few golf balls went for a swim too, but that was conversation for the 19th!
Travel Centres 17th Roaring Success
22nd December 2022 at 12:00 pm Jacinta Mc Glynn (Travelbiz Senior Reporter) attended the 17th Travel Centres 2022 conference in the splendid surrounds of Killashee House Hotel in Co. Kildare back in November. Dominic and Bernie Burke once again pulled out all the stops delivering an amazing event with speed dating workshops and professional presentations for the first half of the day.
Andy Harmer (CLIA) gave a rousing speech; ditto Adam Weatherly from ISME Skillnets and Keynote Speaker Russell Beck. The atmosphere was electric. I spoke to many agents all buzzing with positivity and simply delighted to be in the midst of travel colleagues again. The networking event was jammed with each exhibitor’s table facing queues of eager agents anxious to hone their skills on upcoming products and discover what’s trending and learn the latest news updates. This supplier speed dating could catch on! The broad smiles and energy in the room was enough.
Love is in the air for Eoghan and Orla

ITAA Conference – ‘Leading Teams and Selling Dreams’
22nd December 2022 at 12:00 pm The very impressive Hotel Fuerte El Rompido in the gorgeous little fisherman’s village of El Rompido, in the Province of Huelva, was the location for this year’s annual ITAA conference in October 2022. The theme for ITAA members and trade partners was ‘Leading Teams and Selling Dreams’ and no better location to commence that journey as delegates arrived to soak up Huelva sunshine and sample some amazing sea food, local vino and incredible hospitality.
Portugal Removes Requirement for Negative Test for Arrivals
22nd December 2022 at 12:00 pm As the world started the process of lifting restrictions, every week saw an alleviation of regulations and the news from one of very favourite destinations, Portugal, was a real sign of a return to normality.
Passengers who enter Portugal with an EU Digital Covid Certificate will now no longer be required to present a negative Covid-19 test on arrival. From today, they are only required to present the Passenger Locator Form and a valid EU Digital Covid Certificate, or other proof of vaccination recognised by Portugal, to gain entry.
New Malta route from Shannon Airport launched in March 2022
22nd December 2022 at 12:00 pm The new Ryanair route, which will fly directly from Shannon Airport to Malta, was launched on Sunday 27th March. The route is the first ever scheduled Ryanair service to Malta from Shannon Airport. It will operate twice weekly, each Thursday and Sunday, until the 27th October 2022.
Speaking ahead of the launch of the inaugural flight, Mary Considine (CEO Shannon Group) said, “We are delighted to launch Shannon Airport’s first ever scheduled Ryanair service to Malta and know this will be an exciting new destination for holidaymakers from the west of the country. With its warm climate, breath-taking landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage sites, Malta will undoubtedly be a very popular destination this summer for sun seekers and those who want to experience its culture”.

Jacinta from Travelbiz joined Ruben Lopez and his super team at the Spanish Tourism Office Dublin in a wonderful evening of culture in the Iveagh Garden Hotel on November 29th. In collaboration with Malaga City ably represented by Ana Maria Molina (Malaga City Tourism Board), the Spanish Tourism Office pulled out all the stops to celebrate the life and works of one of their major artists, Pablo Picasso.
