Two very familiar faces to many of you were teamed up once again recently in London. Holly Best is now an Account Manager for Virgin Atlantic Cargo in the UK and Frank McCaffrey is now Cargo Manager for Ireland at Air France KLM. "Loving our new roles but we both miss the craic with our old pals in the travel trade", said Frank and Holly. We all miss you too guys and so good to see you.

Turkish Airlines announced passenger and cargo traffic results for May with an increase in passenger capacity by 13% compared to that of 2022, and total load factor of 81.8% carrying 7.4 million passengers.

Wednesday, June 7, 2023: Irish holiday makers have their eyes firmly set on the sun and the United States this summer, with millions set to depart from Ireland’s two busiest airports at Dublin and Cork over the coming weeks.
June, July and August are set to be the busiest months at both Dublin and Cork airports since 2019, coming on the back of another busy month in May, according to daa, the operator of the country’s busiest two airports.

Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Apex and Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas will be at the forefront of alternative fuel use thanks to extended sustainable biofuel tests this summer in Europe

This summer, Royal Caribbean Group (NYSE: RCL) will set a new industry milestone in alternative fuel use when Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Apex and Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas, set sail in Europe using sustainable biofuel to meet part of the ships’ fuel needs. The landmark test will contribute critical data and research on the fuel’s capabilities and supply chain infrastructure needed to further the industry’s alternative fuel ambitions.

For the first time ever Portugal will have its own MICHELIN Guide, its first-ever dedicated edition for the country with the Algarve chosen to host the first Gala in celebration. The highly anticipated MICHELIN Portugal Guide 2024 will celebrate the remarkable gastronomic evolution, the growing excellence and consistency found in Portugal, as recognized by the Guide's esteemed inspectors.

Portugal currently boasts an impressive culinary landscape, with seven restaurants holding two MICHELIN Stars, 30 restaurants with one MICHELIN Star, 38 Bib Gourmand awards, and three projects recognized with the prestigious MICHELIN Green Star. The Algarve as a region has the greatest concentration with no less than eight MICHELIN starred restaurants.

Los Angeles Tourism hosted 25 Travel Counsellors to “Discover LA in a Day”, held at The Biltmore Mayfair hotel in London on 5-6 June 2023. Partnering with Universal Studios Hollywood, SoFi Stadium, United Airlines and The Garland Hotel, Los Angeles Tourism’s Travel Trade Director, Hayley French, provided training on all things LA at the event, which included a special welcome dinner and overnight stay. Shannon Airport recorded its busiest day in seven years over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
A record breaking 7,800 passengers travelled through the airport on Friday the 2nd of June, marking the highest number of passengers to traverse Shannon Airport in one day since 2016.
The busy day was driven by the airport’s strong transatlantic performance and an expanded range of UK and European services across 48 flights to and from 18 destinations to seven countries.

Dinner in the Four Seasons Hotel (5*) luxe on a prime location riverside in Bangkok is not something to be easily forgotten. A little tour of Bill Bensley’s stunningly original collection, housed within the hotel, was the precursor to a sublime evening. On this truly terrific trip on the Post Fam tour following the success of TTM, TAT treated us to another unique experience, walking the backstreets of Bangkok with one of TAT’s fabulous local guides, Suree. Being no stranger to Thailand, Jacinta from Travelbiz was nonetheless amazed once again at the diverse offerings from Amazing Thailand.

Air Canada resumes non-stop services from Dublin to Vancouver and Montreal

Customers in Ireland will benefit from convenient connections across North America and beyond via Air Canada’s Vancouver and Montreal hubs.

 Air Canada has resumed its non-stop seasonal services between Dublin and Vancouver, operating up to four-times weekly during the summer peak until 30 September 2023, and from Dublin to Montreal, operating up to three-times weekly during the summer peak until 29 September 2023. The summer service returns to build on Air Canada’s existing year-round non-stop service between Dublin and Toronto.
