Air Canada resumes non-stop services from Dublin to Vancouver and Montreal

Customers in Ireland will benefit from convenient connections across North America and beyond via Air Canada’s Vancouver and Montreal hubs.

 Air Canada has resumed its non-stop seasonal services between Dublin and Vancouver, operating up to four-times weekly during the summer peak until 30 September 2023, and from Dublin to Montreal, operating up to three-times weekly during the summer peak until 29 September 2023. The summer service returns to build on Air Canada’s existing year-round non-stop service between Dublin and Toronto.

Turkish Airlines and Icelandair sign a codeshare agreement

Turkish Airlines and Icelandair have signed a codeshare agreement. With this agreement, the two airlines will be providing seamless connections to their customers and expand the number of destinations on both carriers’ networks.
Icelandair passengers in North America and Iceland can connect eastbound via Turkish Airlines’ network to Istanbul; and Turkish Airlines’ worldwide passengers will be able to connect via Icelandair’s network to Iceland and Canada.

Mehmet T. Nane, Chair of the IATA Board of Governors, passes key position to Yvonne Manzi Makolo

Mehmet T. Nane, Chairperson of the Board of Pegasus Airlines, completed his one-year term of office and handed over the role of Chair of the IATA Board of Governors to Yvonne Manzi Makolo, CEO of RwandAir.

Nane, Chairperson of the Board of Pegasus Airlines, completed his one-year term of office and handed over the role of Chair of the IATA Board of Governors to Yvonne Manzi Makolo, CEO of RwandAir. Yvonne Manzi Makolo, who took over the position at the 79th Annual Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) held in Istanbul, is the first woman to assume this duty at IATA and will continue for one year. Mehmet T. Nane remains as a member of the Executive Committee for one more year.

UNWTO and MSC Foundation to deliver sustainable tourism education at sea

UNWTO is working with the MSC Foundation to deliver a series of sustainability-related education courses on board the MSC Euribia cruise ship.
The initiative builds on the success of the first Global Youth Tourism Summit, held in Sorrento, Italy, in 2022, and will see the creation of the MSC Foundation Youth Lab, a specially-equipped venue on the advanced new eco-ship. One of the core programmes to be offered in the Youth Lab will be "GYTS for MSC: A Sustainable Future for Our Next Generations”, designed in close partnership with UNWTO.

Swan Hellenic’s SH Vega sails into Dublin.

Dublin officially welcomed Swan Hellenic’s expedition cruise ship SH Vega on her inaugural visit and a group of travel trade together with Declan Mescall (Features Editor Travelbiz) were invited onboard for a tour of the vessel followed by lunch on the aft open deck under brilliant sunshine on Bank Holiday Saturday. ITAA’s new CEO Clare Dunne was in attendance.
