Tourism Ireland invites the world to experience the magic of St Patrick’s Day

Tourism Ireland’s St Patrick’s 2024 programme capitalises on Ireland’s heightened profile this week.

This St Patrick’s Day, the festival in Dublin will be the hero attraction for Tourism Ireland! The organisation has invited renowned American travel broadcaster Gabe Saglie to livestream from the parade to TV stations across the United States, reaching an audience of around 50 million across CBS, FOX, ABC and NBC networks. Other key international journalists have been invited to visit by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland, to cover the Dublin St Patrick’s Day parade and regional St Patrick’s Day festivals.

Ireland Weeks, organised by Tourism Ireland in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs, are under way in Germany (Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Berlin), France (Paris), Italy (Milan and Rome), Spain (Madrid), Switzerland (Zurich, Basel and other cities) and Austria (Vienna), showcasing our culture, music, literature, food and holiday experiences, bringing the island of Ireland to the streets of the various cities. For example, in Milan, events include an open-air photography exhibition featuring beautiful images of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route; and an Irish film festival, with iconic Irish films being screened this week.

Alice Mansergh, Chief Executive Designate of Tourism Ireland, said: “Tourism Ireland’s St Patrick’s 2024 programme spans Great Britain, North America, Mainland Europe and Australia. The sense of celebration with Ireland and interest generated during St Patrick’s week inspires travel. As an illustration, Tourism Ireland in the past two years saw up to four times as many people in our target markets searching online for future holidays to Ireland during St Patrick’s week as during the rest of the spring. This year, the festival in Ireland will be the hero of our coverage. We will be streaming the parade in Dublin, as well as travel segments from across the island, to up to 50 million viewers across US TV networks alone. In Europe, Ireland Week celebrations, bringing a taste of Ireland to city streets through the arts and music, are in full swing. We are supporting our publicity drive with our ‘Fill your heart with Ireland’ advertising campaign, tailored to showcase St Patrick’s week. It is a special week to create a spotlight for all that Ireland offers visitors.”

Tourism Ireland’s ‘Fill your heart with Ireland’ campaign is live across media this spring – and it’s got a special St Patrick’s flavour this week. Click here to view a new short video, created especially for social channels, which includes footage of the excitement and festivities happening here on 17th March. It will generate over 100 million opportunities to see what the island of Ireland has to offer at this special time of year.

Given that so many countries are celebrating St Patrick’s Day, Tourism Ireland is sharing images, video footage and cultural content about Ireland with news desks around the world, as well as with its database of more than 20,000 influential travel and lifestyle media contacts. For example, on NBC in New York, broadcaster Michael Matthis will feature interviews with Tourism Ireland, as well as footage from the island, in live coverage of the iconic New York parade.
