Jacinta Mc Glynn reports onboard the William Wordsworth

Dripping with history, Art Nouveau, Neo-classical and even Gothic touches, the architecture is simply stunning. Courtesy of Riviera Travel, transfer to our river ship on the Danube shortly. Our group, Carolanne O’Neill (Worldchoice), Niall Mc Donnell (Killiney Travel), Annette Hynes (Fahy Travel), Caroline O’Toole (JWT), Michelle Phelan (Barters Travel) and Louise Ducourq (ITTN), is thrilled to explore and we’re all looking forward to getting on board MS William Wordsworth.

Our group boarded MS William Wordsworth and occupied our super comfortable cabins. Such well-designed spaces and excellent public rooms on the ship are perfect for relaxing holidays. Staff on board could genuinely not be more helpful – everyone goes above and beyond the call of duty. Nothing is too much trouble and every task is met with a smile. Food is top quality and truly delicious. The all-inclusive package offers superb value for money.

The MS William Wordsworth, launched in 2018, is a five-star river cruise ship operated by Riviera Travel, primarily navigating the Danube River.

The vessel accommodates 167 passengers across three decks, offering a blend of luxury and comfort.

Design and Amenities

The ship’s interior showcases sustainable hardwoods, polished copper, brass fittings, and wrought iron, creating an ambiance of understated elegance. A standout feature is the curved staircase leading to a marble-floored lobby, illuminated by a glass atrium.

Onboard amenities include a spa and wellness area with a gym, massage room, nail and hair salon, a sun deck with a splash pool and putting green, and a panoramic observation lounge and bar.

Dining Options

Guests can enjoy buffet breakfasts and lunches, along with four-course dinners in the main restaurant, which accommodates all passengers in a single sitting. For a more intimate experience, the Bistro offers an alternative dining venue with an open kitchen and both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, chefs prepare signature menus based on seasonal ingredients, available at no extra charge upon reservation.

Cabin Accommodations

Cabins range from 172 to 269 square feet. Standard suites on the lower Emerald Deck feature fixed windows, while those on the middle Ruby and upper Diamond Decks offer French balconies. Superior Suites provide additional living space, and Deluxe Balcony Suites include private walk-out balconies with seating. All cabins are equipped with hotel-style beds, en-suite bathrooms with Crabtree and Evelyn bath products, flat-screen TVs, and individually controlled air-conditioning.

Guest Experiences

Passengers have praised the attentive service and onboard atmosphere. For instance, a reviewer highlighted the exceptional crew and the enjoyable onboard entertainment, including music quizzes and crew performances.

Its range of dining options and well-appointed cabins cater to diverse passenger preferences, making it a commendable choice for those seeking to explore Europe’s waterways in style.

I wandered lonely as a cloud…..

On board Riviera Travel MS William Wordsworth, our gala evening event was glittering and fun. Superb food and service was the hallmark of the trip with dollops of laughter thrown in. Our grand finale in Bratislava was crowned with an amazing lunch in UFO Restaurant with Michelin standard fare and fantastic local wine pairings. Phil Huellah (CEO Riviera Travel), Vicky Billings, Roxy, Lloyd, Stephen, Chris and all the stunning Riviera staff need to take a bow. Our final night on board ended with a performance by a string quartet. Uplifting and the perfect cultural ending to a lovely itinerary.
