The Chancery: Step Inside Dublin 8’s Newest Hotel

The Chancery has opened its doors on Ship Street Great, situated in the heart of Dublin 8, ideally located for guests to explore a vibrant & unique neighbourhood brimming with the best that Dublin City has to offer.

Historic landmarks, local artisan food producers, fashion designers and artists make it one of the most exciting and up-and-coming quarters of the city.

Dublin 8 is widely recognised as being rich in culture and history associated with the creative community of the city. Ship Street Great has long standing Italian heritage and was once known as ‘Little Italy’ because of Italian migrants who settled around the area in the late 1800’s.

The Chancery is a new independent, Irish owned 150-bedroom luxe hotel and an exciting, elevated addition to the 4-star hotel scene in Dublin.

The hotel is entrenched in the creativity and history of its neighbourhood, weaving the history of Dublin through its very fabric from locally reclaimed stone to the bespoke, commissioned art on the walls which tells the story of the city and some of its most iconic characters. The seasonal dishes in the hotel’s Fawn Restaurant take inspiration from the Italian heritage of the area, while the biophilic design of the hotel sources foliage from local suppliers – creating a sumptuous retreat in the heart of the city.

A design-led and locally inspired hotel, the property features Phillipe Starck furniture and reclaimed Connemara marble throughout, offering guests a stylish and elevated stay, while each bedroom is designed with function and comfort in mind, providing guests with their own little sanctuary in the city.

Bedrooms are appointed in a calm, pared-back style with natural, sustainable materials throughout, from the stand-alone handcrafted furniture to herringbone hardwood floors. A selection of skyline rooms and suites offer guests some of the best hotel views that Dublin has to offer – peering across the cityscape and directly onto Dublin Castle and leading out to the cultural atmosphere of the city.

Mod cons come as standard, with the likes of electronically controlled curtains, blackout blinds, air conditioning, automated mood and functional lighting – all controlled by the futuristic but simple to use panels in each room to maximise guest comfort.

One can expect a restful night sleep on superior quality Irish made King Koil mattresses under luxury high thread count cotton linens. VOTARY skincare amenities range, found in some of the most exclusive hotels and resorts across the globe and exclusive to The Chancery in Ireland, compliment bespoke guest bathroom experience.

The hotel restaurant, Fawn, opens on to a breath-taking walled garden, designed by the award-winning Jane McCorkell. Inspired by the River Poddle, the garden creates a unique, calming enclave at the centre of the hotel, celebrating the history of Dublin which immerses guests in nature while in the heart of the city.

The Bar at The Chancery offers a warm and cosy setting, showcasing beautiful Connemara marble fittings and sumptuous seating. Guests will be transported back to the old Dublin of the 1800’s as they look out on the lamplit, old cobble streets of Ship Street Great.

Operating on a Completely Fossil Fuel Free Basis

This luxe hotel experience has been considered on every level for guests, from comfort to convenience. The latest in sustainable technologies throughout the building and underpinning the day-to-day operations means sustainability is part of the hotel culture. The hotel will operate on a completely fossil fuel free basis and has been certified with LEED Gold status which is the gold standard in rating systems for green buildings across the world and is Green Tourism Certified.

As well as looking after the planet, the hotel wants its guests to look after their own wellbeing, providing a wellness hub that offers guests a serene space to relax with hammam steam room, sauna, and state of the art gym.

The Chancery is primely located just metres from The Dublin Royal Convention Centre and The Printworks at Dublin Castle. It offers its own dedicated boardroom which seats sixteen delegates and is equipped with an 85-inch LED screen and multimedia functionality as well as several private acoustic meeting pods for 2 – 4 people. The hotel will be an integral part of the Dublin 8 area as a new international meeting and digital hub in Dublin City.

“We have kept three key values at the forefront of our minds at every step of the process to create this new hotel – community, sustainability and the ultimate in exceeding the expectations of our guests. These values are inherent in all aspects of the hotel, from the art on the walls telling the story of Dublin to the sensor operated lighting throughout the hotel to conserve energy to the glass fronted suites on the top floor overlooking the iconic Dublin skyline.”

The Chancery, 21 Ship Steet Great, Dublin 8, will offer a selection of rooms and suites starting at €230. Booking and more information is available online at www.TheChanceryHotel.ie.
