The Chancery Hotel Celebrate Sustainability Success

#Traveltradetogether

Dublin’s luxury city centre hotel, The Chancery, continues to lead the way in sustainable hospitality following its recent achievement of LEED Gold Certification. The hotel attained the highest rating (70%) under the LEED Hospitality scheme across Ireland and the UK. Celebrating its first birthday in March, The Chancery has prioritised sustainability at every level since opening, proudly operating on a fossil fuel-free basis and earning Green Hospitality Certification as well the LEED Gold Certification.

Sustainability remains central to The Chancery’s operations, with advanced green technologies, PV-generated electricity, sensor-operated lighting, reclaimed Connemara marble, and locally inspired design-led interiors. These features not only reduce environmental impact but also enhance the guest experience, blending luxury with responsibility.

Group General Manager, Bríd Cloonan is delighted with the achievement: “Sustainability remains at the forefront of our minds in The Chancery and our sister property in Stretaw Hotel Group, The Grafton Hotel. It’s inherent in all aspects of the hotel, with our dedicated sustainable manager Reyhan Thomas who is responsible for ensuring that continuous improvement of green initiatives evolve throughout the hotel whether it be through energy conservation, recycling, and waste management. With several initiatives from the sensor-operated lighting to our Beehive and Mushroom Kingdom, Rooftop Garden and more recently or new e-bike. This LEED Gold Certification, our participation in the Climate Action Programme, and our award nominations reflect the dedication and commitment of our team to protect the planet while providing the highest standards for our guests.”

The Chancery was shortlisted in the first year of the Irish Climate Action Leadership Awards which honour businesses that have demonstrated outstanding commitment and innovation in making positive changes to help address the challenge of climate change. The Chancery and its sister hotel, The Grafton, also earned a nomination in the Gold Medal Awards for Leading Green and Sustainable Hotel, a testament to their dedication to sustainable hospitality and commitment to responsible tourism practices.

In keeping with this commitment, The hotel is also actively participating in the Fáilte Ireland Climate Action Programme, a national initiative providing hands-on support, resources, and investment advice to help Ireland’s tourism industry transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
