From the fabulous Opening Ceremony yesterday at Thai Travel Market, TAT has outdone themselves in the presentation and coordination of the conference this year. Plans and goals are more expansive than ever and 2023 is already proving hugely successful with visitor figures way up and exceeding expectations. Amazing New Chapters is again the theme with Sustainable Travel Goals as the focus – making memories and meaningful moments. Write your life’s new chapter. I think I will, thanks very much! The aim of TAT is to balance environmental, economic and cultural objectives and they hope to expand this at national level too. A 7 digit target is to spend more, stay longer; colour your life, aim for responsible travel and make Asians more aware; a second tier of second to none and be competition intense; make a strategic move for increase in air connectivity for long haul; expand to new markets and offer expansive new experiences within Thailand (luxury, Bangkok life, wellness, food, shopping, river cruises etc). So, when the meetings ended and with all that information on board, it was time to party! So, a few familiar faces mingled and enjoyed a few light beverages and delicious canapes, then repaired to The Standard (super quirky and fabulously upmarket hotel) for cocktails and great views over the city. Bangkok by night is pretty spectacular. Our angel, Joanna Cooke, took us home on the Skytrain to our own delightful 5* oasis, Pathumwan Princess Hotel.
