TAP increases connections to the south of BRAZIL – Greater choice for UK & Irish travellers

Fourth weekly frequencies to Porto Alegre and Florianópolis begin in the European summer.

TAP Air Portugal will increase its operations in southern Brazil starting from the next European summer season, with the introduction of a fourth weekly frequency on the routes between Lisbon and Porto Alegre and between Lisbon and Florianópolis, strengthening connectivity between Portugal, Europe, and the two Brazilian markets.

For Porto Alegre, the new frequency will operate on Mondays, starting July 6. In Florianópolis, the additional frequency will operate on Sundays, starting July 5.

L to R: Ricardo Gesse, CEO Zurich Airport Brazil, Beto Martins, Secretary Airports Government Santa Catarina, Catiane Seif, Secretary of State Tourism, Jorginho Mello, Governor Santa Catarina, Rita Tamagnini, TAP Director Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Mário Chaves, TAP Chief Operating Officer, Mario Cruz, TAP Chief Commercial & Revenue Officer, and Carlos Antunes, TAP Director Americas.

According to Carlos Antunes, TAP Director for the Americas, “the reinforcement of the Porto Alegre route consolidates TAP’s strategic presence in the south of Brazil. In April last year, we were in the state to announce the airline’s return to Rio Grande do Sul and committed to making every effort to ensure the success of this operation. We kept our word and, less than a year later, we are announcing a new investment. We work continuously to be the main link between the state and Europe, as well as bringing travelers from more than 50 countries where we operate to discover the beauty and cultural richness of Rio Grande do Sul.”

Mário Chaves, Chief Operating Officer of TAP Air Portugal, highlights that “in September 2024, we announced the flight to the state of Santa Catarina. With this new route, TAP reaffirmed its commitment to continue investing in being the preferred European airline for Brazilian customers, while strengthening the connection between the south of the country and Europe. We always believed this connection would be a success and it was. Today, we are pleased to announce the reinforcement of the operation with the launch of a new frequency.”

The increase in frequencies in Porto Alegre and Florianópolis represents a valuable contribution to the economic and tourism development of these two Brazilian states, promoting the attraction of international visitors and the strengthening of tourism. With these new flights, TAP reaffirms its commitment to the Brazilian market and to enhancing air connectivity between Brazil and Europe.

TAP Air Portugal currently flies from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester airport in the UK and from Dublin in Ireland to Lisbon and Porto with onward connections to Brazil, Africa, Madeira, Azores, the USA and Canada.  TAP has a stop over programme allowing passengers to stop in either Lisbon or Porto on long haul journeys for up to 7 days for no additional air fare.
