TAP Air Portugal is the Official Airline of the National Team

TAP Air Portugal and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announce a strategic partnership that reinforces two of the strongest symbols of portugalidade: the National Team and the Flag Carrier Airline. Under this agreement, TAP becomes the Official Airline of the National Team.

This partnership is based on a shared vision of promoting Portugal internationally, bringing together soccer, tourism, and air travel as drivers of the country’s global profile. TAP will accompany the National Team on its international trips, ensuring excellent conditions that reflect the highest standards of quality, safety, and comfort.

L to R:Margarida Balseiro Lopes, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport; Miguel Pinto Luz, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing; Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation; Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP; and Roberto Martínez, National Team Head Coach.

The agreement comes at a particularly relevant strategic moment, in an international cycle marked by preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and with a broader vision for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Portugal will co-host with Spain and Morocco.

In this context, the partnership between the FPF and TAP plays a central role in promoting Portugal beyond its borders. This association, now formalised, reinforces the FPF’s internationalisation strategy and consolidates TAP’s position as an active partner in promoting sport, tourism, and the image of a modern and globally competitive Portugal.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, states that “for TAP, carrying the National Team on our wings is a source of pride and an opportunity to strengthen Portugal’s image around the world. This partnership reflects not only our commitment to excellence and promotion of the country beyond its borders, but also the winning spirit with which we face all challenges.”

Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, emphasises the importance of the agreement: “This partnership with TAP is a source of enormous pride for the Portuguese Football Federation. It represents the union of two brands that are ambassadors for Portugal around the world and share a long-term strategic vision. In a competitive cycle that culminates in the 2026 World Cup, this connection reinforces the National Team’s ability to go further, both on and off the field, while promoting Portugal as a country of talent, excellence, and ambition.”

TAP Air Portugal currently flies from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester airport in the UK and from Dublin in Ireland to Lisbon and Porto with onward connections to Brazil, Africa, Madeira, Azores, the USA and Canada.  TAP has a stop over programme allowing passengers to stop in either Lisbon or Porto on long haul journeys for up to 7 days for no additional air fare.
