Sunway Scotland and the Lake District Tour
When Mary Denton (MD Sunway) mentioned Scotland, I was already shaking the pleats o’ ma wee tartan kilt! Jacinta Mc Glynn (Travelbiz) was delighted to head northwards to the glorious unspoiled Scottish border counties in the safe hands of Sunway, Ireland’s largest Irish owned tour operator. My coach trip has a super itinerary. Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Lake District with tons of sightseeing from the comfort of a luxury Ardcavan coach.
We drive via Newry to Belfast; however, as we’re a bit early, our fearless tour leader, the loquacious Frank Mackin, directs our driver up the Falls Road and we get a mini tour of Belfast thrown in. Onwards to Belfast docks to board Stena Line’s Superferry to Cairnryan, only a couple of hours coast to coast. Sailing in huge comfort on Stena’s Superferry, we nip across the Irish Sea and we’re in Cairnryan in the curl of a wave. Home for the next few nights is the lovely Victorian Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club in the town of Dumfries (Dumfries & Galloway Region). Situated on the banks of the river Nith, scenery is relaxing, gorgeous red sandstone buildings abound and the atmosphere is really warm and friendly. Ye can almost smell the heather ‘n the haggis. Well, slight exaggeration, but I’m getting’ in the mood! Och aye the noo! Join us for highland flings and Scottish revelry for the next few days – bagpipes not guaranteed!
