Dublin’s stunning Shelbourne Hotel was the venue for the annual Star Alliance Christmas lunch on 4th December. The equally stunning Martina Coogan (Head of Corporate Sales UK & Ireland United Airlines) hosted proceedings and aided and abetted by Alan Sparling (MD ASM), it was the stellar affair that guests have grown to love and consider the beginning of the festive season.
Martina brought us up to date with innovations within the industry and welcomed representatives from TAP, Turkish Airlines, Egyptair, Air Canada and ANA. Julie Murphy (UK Star Alliance) spoke to us about the success of ANA and the growth of flights to Japan. Ciara O’Brien represented Dublin Airport and voiced delight at passenger traffic through their doors.
Naturally, not to be outdone, Declan Power (Shannon Airport) took to a chair (literally standing upon it to address the room!) and amused us all with his witty repartee and expressed his hope that Shannon Airport will soon win an award – best airport west of the Shannon perchance?
Blaithin O’Donnell (Air Canada) presented a beautiful bouquet to the legendary Marie Grenham and praised Marie for her immense kindness through the years and her long and loyal service to the travel industry. She will be missed.
Decked in fairy lights and festooned with sequins, tinsel and shiny baubles, the hotel was nearly as glamorous as invited guests. Thanks to Declan and Isobel for the fab goody bags, courtesy of Shannon Airport. An all-round great afternoon, so thanks and appreciation to Martina, Alan and Star Alliance. It’s the star on the Christmas tree.
