Shannon Airport’s new mobile app is first of its kind to feature augmented reality and smartwatch integration

New app is first of its kind airport app in Ireland to feature smartwatch integration and augmented reality bag size checkers to further enhance customer experience.

Shannon Airport has today launched its brand-new mobile app, which is designed to make the customer experience even easier. The new app, available to download now for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, boasts a range of innovative features that will ensure the journey through Shannon Airport is as smooth as possible from booking flights, and car parking right through to check-in, and departure.

The new Shannon Airport app will be the first of its kind to offer smart watch integration, setting a new standard in passenger convenience and technology, with customers able to receive real time flight tracking updates and push notification directly to their smart watch. This means passengers are updated in real time on the live status of departing and arriving flights, check-in status, baggage carousel information, gate statuses, and flight delays or cancellations.

In another first, the Shannon Airport app will also offer users an Augmented Reality bag size checker, where passengers can measure their bag size at home using the measurement tool on the app, to ensure it complies with specific airline guidelines for carry-on luggage.

Car parking at Shannon Airport will also be even more streamlined with the introduction of the Shannon Airport app. Apple and Google Pay functions will allow passengers to pay for their parking with just the click of a button on their phone. They will also be able to easily locate their car upon their return to Shannon with the ‘Pin My Car’ feature, another first for an Irish airport app. The user just needs to pin the location of their parked car on the airport map when they arrive at the airport, which they can then use to easily find it on returning from their trip.

Customers will also be able to access Shannon Airport’s route destinations, making the travel planning process even easier, while its interactive map feature will ensure passengers can easily navigate their way through the airport, from check-in and duty free to the airport’s restaurants and departure gates.

Commenting, Trevor Curran, Marketing Manager at Shannon Airport said: Here at Shannon Airport, we are committed to delivering a seamless travel experience, focusing on customer satisfaction and innovation. The launch of this new app underscores our commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and embracing cutting-edge technology. We are proud to be the first airport in Ireland to offer app features like smartwatch integration and augmented reality bag size checkers and we can’t wait to see what our passengers think. Customers will also be able to access exclusive discounts and special offers via the app, so we would really encourage people to download it to stay up to date with the very latest developments at Shannon Airport”.
