Royal Caribbean Celebrates Chief Dog Officer’s One Year of Service

#Traveltradetogether

This week, Royal Caribbean, proudly commemorates the one-year anniversary of service for Rover, the Chief Dog Officer aboard Icon of the Seas.

Chief Dog Officers Sailor and Rover officially met for the first time on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas. The Icon Class pups will soon double the memories made by vacationers of all ages when Sailor joins the ultimate family vacation on Star of the Seas, debuting August 2025 in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida.

For over 365 days, Rover, a two-year-old golden retriever, has been an integral part of the Icon of the Seas experience—enhancing the world’s premier family vacation with warmth, charm, and memorable moments.

Royal Caribbean also announces that Rover has welcomed a new colleague: Sailor, who will assume the role of Chief Dog Officer aboard Star of the Seas beginning August 2025. Departing from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, Sailor will accompany guests on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, including regular visits to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The Chief Dog Officer program was established in collaboration with leading animal welfare organization American Humane, reflecting Royal Caribbean’s commitment to responsible and innovative guest experiences.
