The Magnificent 8 departed the beautiful town of Fort Collins in style with a memorable breakfast at the Silver Grill. The Silver Grill Cafe is the oldest restaurant in Northern Colorado, serving breakfast and lunch since 1933 and with roots going all the way back to 1912. Wooden floors, huge windows looking out on Old Town, and brick walls, booths and tables lend the place and what a feast we had as we booted up for our Estes Park-Tour of Rocky Mountain National Park!
Estes Park, Colorado is the base camp for amazing adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park and a favourite mountain getaway. It is the ideal base to explore the Colorado Rockies where you can encounter real wildlife and activities including white water rafting, horse riding, mountain roller coasters and a whole lot more!
Upon arrival we were met by the lovely Cindy Mackin, from Visit Estes Park. Our first stop was the Mustang Mountain Coaster, the freshest alpine coaster in all of Colorado, a thrilling, horseless “trail ride” giving you a heart-pounding journey through Sombrero Ranch. Some of the magnificent 8 used their brakes whilst others simply let it wind at full throttle!
With our adrenaline levels restored we made our way to Downtown Estes Park for some shopping and general sussing of where to go for some local liquid after our afternoon horseback riding in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Success on all fronts! Downtown Estes Park is a must stop and a great overnight option for a fly drive with some really great bars and food stops.
Suited, Booted and saddled up! A horse-riding experience through the Rocky Mountain National park is an absolute must. Our group of cowboys and girls certainly looked the part and they even found a big, big, big horse named Judge for Don. We meandered our way through the beautiful trails of the Colorado Rockies for a couple of hours before heading for another amazing lunch in the famous Stanley Hotel! “Here’s Johnny”. Name the Movie???? The Colorado style fried Chicken, Soup, salads and award winning beers went down a treat as we loaded up, said goodbye to our horses and made way to Denver Colorado.
