Ryanair welcome the delayed resumption of international travel to/from Ireland from today Monday 19th July, 19 days after the rest of Europe rolled out the EU DCC (Digital Covid Cert) and began moving again. 26 other EU countries have restored intra-EU air travel safely using the EU DCC from 1st July last, restaurants have safely reopened, as have tourism facilities all across Europe.

Vaccinated EU citizens, together with their children under 12, can travel to Ireland with no restrictions.

Vaccinated UK citizens, together with their children under 12, can travel to Ireland with no restrictions.

Both EU and UK children between the ages of 12 and 18 will still require a negative PCR test, to travel to Ireland with their families, but will not have to quarantine.

Ryanair’s CEO Eddie Wilson said: “We welcome at last, the long-delayed resumption of restriction free air travel between Ireland, the UK and the EU. There is no justification for the 19-day delay, which has left Ireland yet again, the only outlier in recovering aviation and tourism”.

“From today, we will be welcoming substantial numbers of Irish families travelling on well-earned holidays to the beaches of Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece, and we can at long last welcome UK and EU families who are finally able to travel to Ireland to visit friends and relatives who they haven’t seen for over 15 months”.

“The success of vaccination programmes clearly allow for the safe resumption for intra-EU travel, and the restrictions that have been placed on UK visitors to Ireland are an ineffective joke, when these visitors have been driving across the Northern Ireland land border for the last 6 months with no restrictions. Having mismanaged the reopening of Irish aviation, Minister Eamonn Ryan should now, without further delay, implement the 12 month old recommendations of his own Aviation Taskforce”.
