New Mexico Media Dinner in Dublin
A delegation from New Mexico (southwest US) arrived in Dublin to regale us with tales of their wondrous State. A small group of Irish media gathered in Achara Restaurant on Aston Quay last night to hear the latest from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Los Cruces and Taos (Ski valley).

Certainly, New Mexico is as diverse as its topography and cities have different cultural and geographical attributes. Art, cuisine, great outdoors (think skiing up north at Taos Mountain), fab restaurants and delightful residents so proud of their heritage are just a few highlights. Speaking of heritage, New Mexico has many Native American tribes and some of their reservations may be visited.

The constant though is the renowned chilli pepper – this is New Mexico’s biggest claim to fame with huge State support. This humble pepper is eaten at every opportunity and used in virtually every recipe. Hot stuff!
Representing their specific areas, I met:
Brenna Moore – Albuquerque
Albert Herrera – Los Cruces
Angelina Murray – Heritage Inspirations
Thomas Murray – Heritage Inspirations
David Carr – Santa Fe
Holly Marquez. – New Mexico Tourism Department
Mark Meredith – Rocket Marketing

Unfortunately, we missed Louise Pepper (Northstar Marketing) whose arrival was stymied due to traffic problems in UK, but she was with us in spirit.

The appeal of New Mexico is enormous and the passion (and heat – remember the ubiquitous chilli pepper) with which the State was described was enough to send me packing (my bag, of course!). Next stop, Santa Fe. Viva Nueva Mexico!
