New Aer Lingus route from Dublin to Malta!

The Malta Tourism Authority has welcomed the announcement that Aer Lingus will now be operating a new direct route to Malta from Dublin for the very first time! Flights to Malta will operate three times per week from the 25th October 2024, with fares starting at €69.99.

The route is part of Aer Lingus’s new Winter 2024 – 2025 schedule.

Speaking about the new Aer Lingus route, Tolene van der Merwe, Director of the Malta Tourism Authority for the UK and Ireland said: “We are delighted about the announcement of the new Aer Lingus route to Malta. Visitors to Malta from Ireland will now have even more options to get there as this year we have also welcomed three new flights from Belfast to Malta. Malta and Gozo’s mild winter climate means it is the ideal destination for a winter holiday or a Christmas/New Year break and is just a three-and-a-half-hour flight away. With these new flights from Dublin our Irish visitors will have so many more opportunities to experience cultural and activity holidays plus the amazing culinary options in our stunning Islands which are in the heart of the Mediterranean.

We are looking forward to working with the team at Aer Lingus and making the route a great success.  This is very exciting news for Malta and Ireland.”

With over 7,000 years of history, Malta is the ultimate holiday destination for anyone interested in history and culture. The Islands have three sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list; the City of Valletta, the Megalithic Temples and the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum. You can also get the ferry over to Gozo – a quieter alternative to the mainland!

Having marvelously mild winters and a fantastically favourable climate, there are countless outdoor activities that can be enjoyed throughout the winter months in Malta, including hill walking and cycling. The island is also a fantastic location for diving and is consistently voted one of the best diving destinations in the world!

Of course, after such a busy day of site sightseeing and activities, visitors need some nourishment. Luckily Malta is the home to an abundance of outstanding produce. Food and drink are the very essence of Maltese culture, so it’s not surprising that six restaurants have been awarded a Michelin Star and three restaurants have a Bib Gourmand award. Malta’s Michelin Star restaurants are The Fernandõ Gastrotheque; Under Grain, Noni, De Mondion, Bahia, along with a Michelin Two Star restaurant ION – The Harbour.

With great value on offer, especially in the out of season months of October/November, and with temperatures in November usually over 20 degrees, it’s time to start planning a visit to Malta now!
