Nevada welcomes new Aer Lingus service

The seasonal service from Dublin to Las Vegas will connect Irish travellers to the Silver State for the first time.

Nevada welcomes a new seasonal route with Ireland’s home carrier, Aer Lingus this week. Operating three times weekly from 25 October 2024 until 29 April 2025, the nonstop service departs Dublin (DUB) at 15:20 (LT) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and arrives into Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) at 17:50 (LT) allowing plenty of time for travellers to enjoy an evening in the sports and entertainment capital of the world. The return flight, EI51, departs LAS at 19:30 and arrives back in DUB at 13:20 the following day.

Lead in fares start from 499 euros return in economy with the added comfort of preclearance U.S. Customs and immigration before boarding. An Airbus A330-300 aircraft will be used for the route, the largest aircraft in EI’s fleet, with 30 business seats and 287 economy seats.

Nevada holds many notable connections with Ireland stemming from the 1850s where settlers flocked to the state to find their fortune in silver and gold. Within a decade of the discovery of the Comstock Lode in 1859 – the most profitable mineral deposits in American history – roughly a third of the residents of Virginia City were Irish born or Irish Descendants. Today, Irish connections are recognised across the state, including leading arts and entertainment group – Shamrock Productions based in Reno, hosting Irish dance and music performances year-round.

Rafael Villanueva, CEO of Travel Nevada, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Aer Lingus’ new direct service, which opens the door for Irish travellers to explore the countless experiences Nevada has to offer. Our state is full of surprises, from exciting new developments and attractions to our 10 themed road trips, each showcasing the wide-open wonder of Nevada. Whether visitors are drawn to art and culture, intrigued by alien lore, or eager to experience the Wild West spirit in our rural towns, there’s a road trip here for everyone. We look forward to welcoming a new wave of Irish travellers to ‘Get a Little Out There’ and discover Nevada’s offbeat and unforgettable adventures.”

Beyond the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada is defined by contrasts and offers visitors a rich history with diverse cultures. Known for its stunning desert landscapes, alluring casinos, and vibrant nightlife, ‘The Silver State’ is also home to a variety of pristine natural wonders including the Valley of Fire State Park, Lake Tahoe and Great Basin National Park, as well as ghost towns, eccentric exhibitions and tasty Basque cuisine. Nevada is also well known for its annual events, including the World Human Powered Speed Challenge, Great Basin Astronomy Festival, Burning Man and the Las Vegas Grand Prix which returns to the city in November.

This month, Nevada will celebrate its 160th birthday, marking the official statehood with annual celebrations taking place in Carson City. Home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade since 1938, the event pays homage to Nevada’s heritage and the official founding of the state on 31 October, 1864.
